ACCESSIBILITY

Fierté Montréal is committed to make its events, and the events it supports, as accessible as possible. 

Here is a list of actions and information that we undertook to provide or improve accessibility in the various activities of the Fierté Montréal Festival.

All the entry points of the Parc Olympique are accessible to people with reduced mobility, but we suggest prioritizing the Pie IX entry point because of the gentle slope. An access corridor will be reserved for people with reduced mobility at that door.

Two platforms (1 for each stage) for people with reduced mobility with a capacity for 8 wheelchairs and 8 accompanying people each.

Each platform includes chairs, umbrella, an adapted bathroom and reception staff

An access ramp for easier access to safer spaces.

Please take a look at the Accessibility Plan to learn more about:

• Circulating on the Esplanade site with a wheelchair;
• Noise sources;
• Reduced mobility platforms.

Only guide dogs and service pets can access the Parc Olympique’s Esplanade.

A langue des signes du Québec (LSQ) interpreter will be present at the following events:

• Wednesday, August 9, 2023: Speeches and award distribution to community members, on the TD stage between 7 and 8 p.m.

In collaboration with many 2SLGBTQIA+ community organizations, we offer two welcoming, safer spaces to festival participants: the Youth Space (14–25 year-olds) and the QTBIPOC Space (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous & People of Colour). 

These spaces are calm environments, away from the crowds, where QTBIPOC and youth can go and sit, decompress, gather and access, if necessary, active listening services offered by intervention workers from 2SLGBTQIA+ community organizations with an anti-oppressive approach.

The stage located at Jardins Gamelin is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Service pets are allowed.

A langue des signes du Québec (LSQ) interpreter will be present at the following events:

• Thursday, August 3, 2023: Opening ceremony, 5 p.m.

The urban furniture on Sainte-Catherine Est, as well as many spaces offer seating areas, including at the Parc de l’espoir (at the corner of Panet Street) and at Place du Village (at the corner of Wolfe Street).

3 islands of chemical toilets will be spread out on Saint-Thimoté, Wolfe and Panet streets. Each island will include 1 adapted toilet. Please note that the toilets will be closed outside of the activity hours.

Pets, including service pets, are allowed.

Bathrooms:

For participants: chemical toilets, including adapted toilets, will be available in each section of the assembly area, in the accreditation areas and the gathering point, but there are no toilets for the public along the route.

Reserved spaces:

Two spaces will be reserved for people with reduced mobility to allow them to watch the Parade.

• On the north side of René-Lévesque Boulevard, in Parc Miville-Couture, between Wolfe and Atateken Streets
• On the north side of René-Lévesque Boulevard, at the Place Ville-Marie débarcadère, located between Boulevard Robert-Bourassa and Place Ville-Marie

Service pets:

Only animals on vehicles or on floats will be authorized. No animal can walk in the Pride Parade, with the exception of guide dogs and service pets.

• The hall is accessible to people with reduced mobility from the main entrance and then by elevator in the main hall (first door on the left).
• Security and reception staff can accompany those requiring assistance.

• People with reduced mobility can use the main entrance, as part of Club Soda is located at street level.
• There is a disabled toilet next to the box office.
• Seating for the disabled is limited, so please arrive 15 minutes before doors open. Security staff will give priority to the best seats, as required.

• Le National is partially accessible to people with reduced mobility. Entrance is via the main door, where a ramp has been added.
• The toilets are not adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Fierté Montréal’s new website has been created to meet level AA criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).
