DJ AQ

AQ comes from Harlem, with South African and Guinean roots. An abbreviation for “Afrikan Queen,” her name summarizes her specialization in sounds from the Black South African diaspora: Afro/Deep/Tech-House, Amapiano and Gqom. AQ is also the founder of the new independent music label, SelectHER. Even though she is relatively new to the world of production, she is making waves in the dance music scene with her original mixes and songs. AQ’s mission is to connect the world through music, dance and culture. She is a pioneer of South African music and that is one of the reasons why her sounds spread across the city of New York and beyond, influencing the rhythms of events and festivals like Coachella, Afronation, Everyday Ppl and Afropunk.
