A new membership for Fierté Montréal

Upon ratification of its new bylaws in Spring 2023, Fierté Montréal created four categories of members of the corporation.

  • Community Member
  • Resource Member
  • Committed Member
  • Allied Member

Fierté Montréal's new membership was designed to reflect the diversity of stakeholders working and collaborating with the organization, first and foremost the organizations taking part in the Parade and Community Days.

The membership is organizational, meaning the Community or Committed or Allied member organization will have to designate one person to represent itself before the corporation.

There is no limit to the number of Community, Committed or Allied members. The exception to the above rules is for Resource Members, who participate on an individual basis and are limited to four people.

Community Member

The Board of Directors may grant the status of Community Member, for a renewable two-year period, to a 2SLGBTQIA+ independent non-profit organization from Québec or Canada which requests it and meets the following criteria:

  • Adheres to Fierté Montréal's mission
  • Is a duly incorporated non-profit organization
  • Is an organization whose mission is not in conflict with Fierté Montréal's
  • Commits to following Fierté Montréal's bylaws

The Community Member organization designates one person to represent itself before the corporation. This person represents the Community Member at the corporation's general meetings, has the right to speak, the right to vote and the right to be a candidate for one of the three seats reserved to this member category on the Board of Directors.

Registration to the Pride Parade and Community Days, as well as access to Fierté Montréal's various grants, are not reserved to members. Any 2SLGBTQIA+ community group, member or not of Fierté Montréal, will always have access to those programs.

Membership is free of charge.

How to become a Community Member?

  • Organizations meeting the above criteria may submit an application for membership by filling out a form made available by request to caleboeuf@fiertemontreal.com.
  • A board resolution confirming the organization's interest in becoming member of Fierté Montréal needs to be submitted.

Resource Member

The Board of Directors may grant the status of Resource Member to a person residing in Québec or Canada, who resquests it and meets the following criteria:

  • Adheres to Fierté Montréal's mission
  • Possesses professional competencies the Board is looking for
  • Is interested in becoming a candidate for a seat on the Board of Directors
  • Commits to following Fierté Montréal's bylaws.

The Resource Member status is granted for an undetermined duration by the Board of Directors to a person who meets the above criteria. The person with a Resource Member status loses it upon leaving the Board of Directors.

The Resource Member must be a candidate for one of the four seats reserved to this member category on the Board of Directors. The Resource Member has the right to speak and the right to vote at the corporation's general meetings.

Membership is free of charge.

How to become a Resource Member?

Individuals interested in becoming Resource Members must first apply for a seat on the Board of Directors. Only four (4) Resource Member are allowed at the corporation's general meetings.

Committed Member

The Board of Directors may grant the status of Committed Member, for a one-year renewable period, to a non-profit organization from Québec or Canada (e.g. union, student association, cultural sector, prevention and intervention) which requests it and meets the following criteria:

The Committed Member organization designates one person to represent itself before the corporation.
