Maracatu Raio de Ouro was born in Montreal in 2019, the result of a meeting between the drums of Northeastern Brazil and the vibrant hearts of Quebec. Blending rhythms of resistance with ancestral songs, the group weaves a rich musical tapestry, mixing afoxé, coco, ciranda, and samba pisado. Each beat celebrates the strength of popular culture and a living connection to the sacred, thanks to its deep bond with the terreiro Asé Ilê Oyá Haidê and Mãe Vera de Oyá.
