Pierre-Olivier Beaulac-Bouchard
About
Pierre-Olivier Beaulac-Bouchard (il/lui), a multidisciplinary artist born profoundly deaf, grew up in Alma, Lac Saint-Jean. It was at the age of 16 that he took his first Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) classes, and everything changed for him. He truly fell in love with sign language. At the age of 18, he moved to Montreal, where he finally met and integrated into the Deaf community. Now, he lives between the two worlds, those of the Deaf and those of the hearing. Initially fascinated by theater, he has since the pandemic taken an interest in poetry, storytelling and ways of performing them on stage : artistic branches that enable him to express who he is, but also to imagine his own stories and use a whole range of facial expressions. Beyond the stage and storytelling, Pierre-Olivier Beaulac-Bouchard is also very active on social networks, including TikTok, where he has over 10,000 subscribers. With his short videos in LSQ with French subtitles, the adopted Montrealer aims to raise awareness of the reality of Deaf people.
