Rooted Masterclass : old way

Many people from queer and racialized communities still feel pressured to choose between their identities to be accepted. In a context of rising far-right movements, this event creates a safe space to amplify voices often marginalized. Through a panel discussion and workshops inspired by ballroom culture, participants from Montreal and Paris explore the importance of embracing and expressing their identities fully, without compromise.

The Old Way is one of the founding styles of voguing, characterized by clean lines, angular poses, and precise execution. Inspired by hieroglyphs, martial arts, and fashion poses, it emphasizes symmetry, control, and clarity of form. This workshop, led by an accomplished and renowned performer, emphasizes rigor, discipline, and technical mastery while allowing for strong individual expression.
