Flame
About
An artist, choreographer, and unorthodox performer, Flame (he/him) works to increase recognition of club culture and waacking within the performing arts community. He has been teaching and performing dance for over 15 years, both on stage and on dance floors across Canada, Europe, and Mexico. His work has been presented at Tangente, OFFTA, and the Festival des Faubourgs.
With Supernature, he helps create and sustain queer party spaces in Montreal, while promoting artists from the local scene. This is an opportunity for him to present waacking in an immersive and explosive form, harkening back to its origins: the queer and racialized counterculture of the 1970s, when the club was a place of community, freedom, and self-expression.
