About
MIGHTY REAL GOSPEL X (MRGX) is a 12-member vocal collective bringing gospel vocal traditions into the worlds of disco, house and soul.
Under the artistic and vocal direction of Junior Reade, MRGX reimagines classic songs through original arrangements conceived as vocal remixes. Melodies, harmonies and structures are adapted, transformed or reconstructed to offer a new interpretation of each track.
Created seven years ago within the world of Mundo Disko, MRGX draws inspiration from the work of Sylvester and the anthems that accompanied the queer revolution of the 1970s. The project highlights the influence of gospel vocal traditions on disco and house, as well as the role these musical cultures have played in the history and liberation of LGBTQ+ communities.
