Queer Bal | Divergenres

Prom is a significant moment in our lives, but often takes place in a very heteronormative context.

For a second year, Divergenres offers a non-mixed, alcohol-free celebration space for trans and queer people in Québec City. This year, we allow ourselves to dream of our collective liberation, to imagine a more fair and inclusive world where queer people can flourish and realize their dreams! Divergenres is collaborating with Toustes Doux and GRIS-Québec to bring you an unforgettable *QUEER BAL* experience! This project is supported by Fierté Montréal, without whose funding this event could not take place.

The *QUEER BAL* will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 7pm to 11pm on the 3rd floor of the Édouard-Lavergne Centre (390 Rue Arago Ouest, Québec). The venue is accessible by elevator. A quiet room will be available, with sensory toys, coloring and ear plugs. This event is open to all LGBTQIA2S+ people aged 16 and over.

Proceeds from the evening will support the mission of Divergenres, a severely underfunded organization by and for trans people in Québec City.

We invite you to dress in your most flamboyant, chic and queer attire! Think dresses, skirts, jackets, ties... Nudity is not permitted, but we invite you to genderfuck your outfit!

7pm : Opening of doors, photobooth, non-alcoholic bar and half-and-half sales.
7:30 p.m. : Opening word, appetizer distribution
8pm : 10-minute stand-up routine with queer comedian Anne-Sarah Charbonneau (they/she/he)
8:10 p.m. : DJ White Fatigue (she) begins her set, and it's time to dance!
9pm : Half-and-half prize draw
11pm : End of the evening, closing speech.
