De Bordeaux à Montréal - Ensemble vocal Ganymède reçoit Gayté de Choeur

As part of Pride Week, the Montreal vocal ensemble Ganymède cordially invites you to a unique choral gathering on August 7 at 7:30 PM at the St-Pierre-Apôtre Church (1155 de la Visitation Street, corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard). For this special event, the Montreal ensemble will share the stage with the French choral group Gayté de Chœur from Bordeaux. Both ensembles will present a rich and eclectic repertoire, ranging from traditional and protest songs (Bella ciao, El Pueblo unido, Cancion sin miedo, La novio) to Yaweran massame—a powerful peace anthem uniting Arabic, Yiddish, and Romani set to a 13th-century Sufi poem—as well as classical and contemporary works by Debussy, Poulenc, Kodály, Martin, and Beethoven. Come celebrate diversity, peace, and the beauty of choral singing during this evening of transatlantic cultural sharing.

The Ganymede Vocal Ensemble is a men's polyphonic chorus that sings a variety of musical styles, particularly classical. The choir strives to be a welcoming and inclusive environment, and aims to develop a sense of camaraderie among its members, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Ganymede was created in 1991 by Yvan Sabourin, who remains its current artistic director. Created in 2018 at the initiative of Sébastien Carnac, Gayté de Chœur aims to gather men of all ages and skill levels that can get to know each other, listen to one another, and find their voice within the group. To forge its identity and showcase its artistic diversity, its repertoire draws from sacred, classical, Western, and Eastern works, as well as from Mediterranean and Eastern European folk songs, which serve as vehicles for sharing, solidarity, and hope.
