Rooted Masterclass : hands performance
Many people from queer and racialized communities still feel pressured to choose between their identities to be accepted. In a context of rising far-right movements, this event creates a safe space to amplify voices often marginalized. Through a panel discussion and workshops inspired by ballroom culture, participants from Montreal and Paris explore the importance of embracing and expressing their identities fully, without compromise.
Hands performance is a form of artistic expression focused on the precision, speed, and fluidity of hand movements. Led by a renowned figure in the French scene, this workshop will teach participants how to tell a story, express emotions, and assert their identity through stylized and codified gestures. This discipline fosters individual creativity while drawing on a rich and inclusive cultural tradition.
