Rooted Masterclass : panel

Many people from queer and racialized communities still feel pressured to choose between their identities to be accepted. In a context of rising far-right movements, this event creates a safe space to amplify voices often marginalized. Through a panel discussion and workshops inspired by ballroom culture, participants from Montreal and Paris explore the importance of embracing and expressing their identities fully, without compromise.

This panel discussion with audience participation brings together artists from France and Canada who are members of racialized 2ELGBTQI+ communities to discuss the experiences of people of color within various queer communities.

The guests will answer a few questions, after which the discussion will be opened up to the audience so that everyone can share their experiences and offer mutual support. The event will not be filmed or photographed to ensure the safety of participants.

At the end of the discussion, participants and guests will have the opportunity to chat about the topic as well as ballroom culture in an informal setting with music, an open dance floor, and a warm atmosphere.
