Moodz
About
Maude, also known as Møødz (she/they), is a Montreal-based artist active in contemporary dance, whacking, and street dance and club cultures. Trained at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, they experienced a turning point upon meeting Axelle Munezero, who introduced them to whacking, which became a space for resistance and self-affirmation tied to their queer and gender-fluid identity.
As a dancer and performer, they collaborate with the company WAFD: interdisciplinary creations, directed by Helen Simard and Roger White, and co-founded Supernature, a major waacking battle and project celebrating the dance’s queer roots. They also teach LGBTQIA2+ community classes and explore authenticity, physicality, fluidity, metamorphosis, and inner rhythms through spontaneous movement, raw expression, and sharing.
