Conference & workshop

Combining Prides: Queer & Disability

Moderated by Gwendoline Lüthi (ACSEXE+ Policy Coordinator).

Co-presented by the Fédération du Québec pour le planning des naissances (FQPN).

People with disabilities represent the largest marginalized population in the world, according to the World Health Organization. In Canada, the latest official statistics show that 27% of the population is disabled. Yet this population remains the least visible, both in the public arena and in queer circles, which are no exception. In this context, it's worth recalling that it was the disability rights movements that took up and made famous the slogan "Nothing about us without us" in the 1990s. By sharing the experiences of the panelists, Fierté Montréal invites you to reflect on the (in)accessibility of queer environments and on avenues of solidarity between the disabled and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in order to develop an inclusive sense of community and belonging.

Come and listen to different panelists share their thoughts on celebrating Pride in the plural: a Pride that combines belonging to disability diversity with sexual and gender diversity.

The round table is interpreted in Langue des Signes Québécoise (LSQ) and American Sign Language (ASL).
