Pride Has Its Flags
Since the creation of the rainbow flag in 1978, the various identity pride flags have become much more than colorful symbols. Rich with meaning, these flags are now profoundly political objects. Far more than pieces of fabric, the rainbow flag and other identity flags are, to varying degrees, emblems of life, resilience, love, and freedom — unique markers affirming gender and sexual diversity, and symbols of international recognition.
This exhibition, presented by Fugues and Fierté Montréal, offers an opportunity to learn more about the history and evolution of each flag.
