Co-président.e.s d'honneur 2025

Fierté Montréal Festival is thrilled to announce the honorary co-presidency of its 2025 edition — an individual whose commitment, talent, and hard work inspire and help improve the lives of 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

Ness Murby (he/him)

The first openly trans Paralympian, Ness (he/him) is also a consultant, psychotherapist, and interdisciplinary advocate known for his unapologetic intersectional approach. Queer, multiply disabled, mixed race, and having transitioned later in life, Ness Murby has spent decades challenging systemic oppression by placing humanity at the heart of change. His motto: “ask better questions.”

He has represented three countries in three parasports and holds multiple world and national titles. Since coming out publicly in 2020, he has advocated for safer and more inclusive sport. He is notably the first trans athlete to compete in men’s discus at the World Para Athletics Championships (2022), Canada’s Paralympic Trials (2024), and men’s javelin at the World Championships (2025).

Ness lives in British Columbia on Coast Salish territory with his spouse and their two children, after nearly 15 years of marriage.
