Veils of Bollywood
About
Veils of Bollywood is a Montreal-based dance collective centred around the movement techniques of Bollywood and Indian folk dance forms. Founded by Rameez Karim, VOB's mission is to share immersive dance experiences in non-traditional contexts, to showcase cultural diversity through performance and to educate different audiences through cultural mediation activities.
A key element of VOB’s work lies in questioning the numerous traditional codes related to Bollywood dance and cinema. Questioning the status quo is essential to dismantling certain perspectives, attitudes and perceptions that remain heavily rooted in the art form inside and outside the community.
