PnP/chemsex: a spectrum of emotions - A photovoice exhibition | Cri de ralliement

PnP/chemsex: a spectrum of emotions is an exhibit of photographs taken by people with PnP/chemsex experience. This exhibit represents the latest stage of a doctoral research project in social work, carried out at the Université du Québec à Montréal. The research focuses on the emotions associated with the practice of PnP/chemsex. 10 participants used photography to represent the emotions they experienced in relation to their own PnP/chemsex trajectory, for further discussion during research interviews.

This exhibit was developed with the participants, who selected the photographs and actively contributed to its development. This exhibit presents, from the point of view of the first people involved, the emotional complexity that can be experienced in the context of consumption and sexuality.

Focusing on the emotions associated with the practice of PnP/chemsex also means reflecting on relationships in our communities, the place of substance use and sexuality in these, the stigma associated with substance use and HIV, harm reduction, and the different strategies that can be put in place to take care of each other.

The exhibition will run from August 1 to August 4, 2024, at Le Réflectoire room in Esplanade Tranquille.
A special 6 to 8 launch, with speeches by participants, will take place on August 1, at 6:00 pm.
