From Édith Butler to Rêve, from Rita Baga to Martha Wainwright, from Klô Pelgag to Aimé Simone – the Fierté Montréal Festival is back in full force.
A representative, accessible and generous 17th edition of the Fierté Montréal Festival.
Last year, under difficult conditions, the communities claimed loud and clear never without our pride – pride is inextinguishable. Still today, in a societal context where oppression against 2SLGBTQIA+ persists, the raison d’être of the Fierté Montréal Festival remains more pertinent than ever.
This year, we are back with a fierce edition which, we hope, will live up to the expectations of the communities and our allies. Allyship is more valuable than ever.
At the Olympic Parc Esplanade, in the Village, at Jardins Gamelin, on René-Lévesque Boulevard and at many other locations, the creativity, flamboyance and resilience of more than 150 artists and 100 community groups will be expressed. Our Programming Director, Chris Ngabonziza, has imagined an edition that is focused on both representation and celebration. Festival-goers will be immersed in the realm of inclusion and diversity: 95% of artists come from the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and more than 60% are BIPOC.
The more than 500 volunteers and staff members that make the awesome Fierté Montréal team invite all Montrealers and visitors from far and away to come discover and support the vitality of our communities.
I wish take this opportunity to very sincerely thank our partners for their unwavering commitment. All are back in 2023, and many new exciting collaborations are just getting started.
We look forward to welcoming you in Montréal from August 3 to 13 2023.
Happy Pride!
