Trans+Archive

Organization documenting the life of South American trans women.

About

The Trans+Archive was born from the lack of recognition and documentation about the lives of trans women through South America. Our goal is to showcase the beauty of our lives out of the shadows and centuries of shame society has placed on us. The Archive contains a collection of more than 5,000 documents. This material has been recorded from the beginning of the 20th century until the end of the 1990s. Its content preserves a collection that includes photographic, film, sound, and journalistic memories. The T+A's documentary goals adheres to the fight against transphobia: work for educational training and the social-labour insertion / normalization of trans people, as well as the denunciation of all kinds of institutional or social transphobia.
